That event profoundly shaped both my life and my professional path.

El Financiero was the newspaper where I began my training, and during those early years, I devoted all my energy to daily news reporting. From 2000 to 2013, I served as the newspaper’s correspondent in Spain.

Upon returning to Mexico, I spent nearly two years (2014–2015) as the Coordinator of the Investigative Unit at El Universal, and later became Editor-in-Chief of VICE News en Español (2016–2018). I also began to specialize in journalism with a gender perspective and was Head of News at the digital outlet mexico.com.

In 2020, I began working on research for documentaries, opening a new chapter in my career. I was the Head of Research for the documentary The Three Deaths of Marisela Escobedo, produced by Vice Studios, Scopio, and Netflix. This film, which won the 2021 Ariel Award for Best Documentary, holds a very special place in my heart.

In 2023, together with the team at Mezcla—the production company I work with—we released two more documentaries in which I also served as Head of Research: The Lady of Silence and The Darkness within la Luz del Mundo. Both were selected among the 10 best works by the 2024 Gabriel García Márquez Journalism Award, with La Luz del Mundo making it to the final round. They were also both nominated for the 2024 Ariel Awards by the Mexican Academy of Film in the Best Documentary category.

In 2024, we premiered Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas, where I also served as Head of Research.

I served as Editorial Coordinator of the Urgent Guide for Covering Violence Against Women and Femicides in Mexico (Spotlight–UN Women).I am co-author of two books: Los doce mexicanos más pobres (Planeta, 2016) and Colapso.
